He is active in the DC, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina music scenes but is looking to expand even more soon. He was adopted at 3 months of age from South Korea and was raised in Alexandria VA for most his life.
He has one younger brother who graduated from UNCW recently and often is down in the Wilmington, NC area visiting his family who retired in Leland, NC which is also the home base for his business. Alex W. Young when he is not busy playing shows likes to go surfing, hang out with friends, go to concerts and workout while also training in Krav Maga. He was raised Catholic all his life and is still very involved with church events, attends church at least weekly as well as any young adult events and even is booked occasionally to play various church events in the mid-Atlantic region.
With a wide range of over 3 octaves Alex is a solid Baritone with the ability to also sing bass notes and smooth tenor notes. Melodic Pop with hints of Country guitar riffs complemented by a rich and booming baritone voice making Alex W Young a standout fast up and coming artist in the music industry. As a close friend who is the lead singer of a local band told him … “he’s one song away from reaching the top.”
“Every song I write involves some life experience of mine or something I feel really strongly about, I’m able to write a song about anything really and people see this and relate to it because a lot of it happens to all of us all at some point and it kind of just draws you in” says Alex. Drop by one or more of Alex’s lively public events and you too just might catch yourself singing along.
Alex began his music career as a street musician and even today remains a popular act on both the Ocean City Maryland Boardwalk in the summer months and on King Street near the waterfront. While he isn’t out there every day anymore Alex says “I started as a street musician it was my first gig, I’ve moved onto better things BUT I’ll always remember my roots, plus nothing beats impromptu shows and gaining numerous new fans in the process. Honestly it’s great to mix it up a lot don’t be just one track minded”
Fast-forward 4 years to the present Alex has transformed into a top of the line entertainer gigging up and down the East Coast. Alex W Young even made his debut a couple years ago, at a popular interdenominational Christian music festival called The International Day of Praise & Health Fair in March 2014 where he and nearly 20 other artists joined an all-day praise and worship event. Shortly thereafter he was along with several other performers featured in the Arlington Diocese Young Adult Open Mic and Showcase a show in which the headliner artist was national Catholic recording artist Marie Miller. To this day, the highlight of his career remains being accepted as one of 10 performers selected out of a pool of over 200 others to be featured at The National Christmas Tree Preshow Lighting Ceremony in 2012.
